In 1951, Beiersdorf became the first company to offer a deodorant that specifically inhibits the growth of the bacteria that decompose sweat and cause odor. The 8x4 line began with a deodorizing toilet and bath soap, followed by a powder and aerosol spray. The first roll-on deodorant was launched on the market in 1958.
Juan Gregorio Clausen – the longstanding Head of Advertising at Beiersdorf – developed the catchy name 8x4. It goes back to the active ingredient B32, a component of the first 8x4 products.
Today, the product range comprises 8x4 sprays and roll-on deodorants in various fragrances from trendy to classic that all have one thing in common: They offer reliable 24-hour protection against body odor and underarm wetness. 8x4 is one of the world's leading deodorant brands. Its international success can be seen, for example, from its market leadership in Japan.
