Come together … right now! The European cosmetics industry meets in Brussels

A week full of presentations, science, politics and networking – that’s the Cosmetics Europe Week, starting on the 13th of June in Brussels. As a gathering of the entire European industry, the event combines an interesting program of presentations, discussions, exhibitions and networking opportunities for experts from all areas. They will look at the challenges of personal care in a changing world, and discuss – for example – the implications for cosmetics in the digital era, the relation between cosmetics and self-esteem and the latest scientific alternatives to animal testing.

In the focus of this year’s event is the 40th anniversary of the EU regulation for cosmetics. What’s impressive: Already in 1976 the so-called 1976 Cosmetics Directive standardized rules and regulations for the marketing of cosmetic and personal care products all across Europe. This laid the foundation for today’s cosmetic market in Europe – where consumer safety has one of the highest standards around the world. And of course, especially in the light of the current discussions around TTIP, this topic is still highly relevant.
