Responsible SourcingStrict Requirements – not just for Ourselves

We establish long-term relations with our suppliers and deal with them fairly and reliably, to our mutual benefit. At the same time, we attach great importance to suppliers meeting our high standards, those concerning quality, and business conduct in a responsible and sustainable way. These standards form the basis for a partnership that lasts many years – and that justifies consumers' confidence in our products. Only by guaranteeing that our suppliers also assume social, ecological and economic responsibility, we are able to offer our consumers integrally sustainable products.

The Code of Conduct for Suppliers resonates with Beiersdorf’s Core Values and sets out harmonized and binding criteria for responsible action. It is designed to ensure that our suppliers meet our expectations. The Code of Conduct for Suppliers covers critical issues, such as business integrity, labor standards and human rights, health and safety, and environmental protection. Additionally, we respect:

  • The UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • The conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO)
  • The OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises
  • As well as country-specific statutes and official requirement

The “Responsible Sourcing Program” for suppliers has been developed to provide supplier assessment, continuous monitoring and properly manage compliance of our global supply base. We leverage international collaborative platforms "Sedex" and “AIM-PROGRESS”, which facilitate data transparency and help us gain the synergies to drive improvement in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains. Engagement for Sustainable Procurement Standards

Beiersdorf and 30 other international manufacturers of the consumer goods industry are involved in the "AIM-PROGRESS committee for sustainable sourcing practices of the European Brands Association". The objective is better standards through collaborative cooperation.

"Achieving more together" is the motto of the “AIM-PROGRESS Committee”, in which Beiersdorf has been a member since 2010. With an international membership, the committee operating under the aegis of the "European Brands Association AIM" (Association des Industries de Marque), and in North America in cooperation with the "Grocery Manufacturers Association" (GMA), focuses on a more sustainable and responsible procurement. Its goal is to further improve sustainability over the entire supply chain, including sustainable purchasing principles. The initiative focuses on four areas:

  • Human Rights and Labor Standards
  • Health and Safety
  • Environmental Management
  • Integrity in Business Practices
