(1836 – 1896)
Paul C. Beiersdorf was born in Neuruppin in the Brandenburg Marches, and set up shop as a pharmacist in Hamburg in 1880. Working closely with dermatologist Prof. Dr. Paul Gerson Unna, he established the plasters business, obtaining his first patent in 1882 for “guttapercha plaster gauze”. The date of the patent specification is also the date on which the Company that bears his name to this day was founded.
