CONSERVATION OF NATURE

Healthy ecosystems safeguard the natural resources we need for our products and sustain resilient communities. By driving responsible sourcing and regenerative actions throughout our value chain, we mitigate our impact on water systems, land use and biodiversity.

SUSTAINABLE PALM (KERNEL) OIL

We do not buy palm oil directly. Yet, we use ingredients made from it. When grown in a sustainable way, oil palms can produce a lot of oil on a small area of land. That’ss why we work closely with our partners to promote this type of cultivation, save resources, and reduce environmental impacts. Since 2021, we have used only palm oil certified as sustainable by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

Shea: Natural Care

Shea butter is a natural moisturizer and a key ingredient in many Beiersdorf products, such as our lip balms and body lotions. Shea trees cannot be cultivated, so all nuts come from wild trees growing far apart across the Shea Belt in West Africa. Since 2019, Beiersdorf has supported female collectors there and promotes a more sustainable shea supply chain.

PAPER BASED MATERIALS

We use paper and cardboard in many of our product packages, so it is important for us to source these materials in a sustainable way. Today, 100% of our folding boxes, blister cards, and leaflets are made from FSC‑certified material. We work closely with our suppliers to switch more paper products to recycled or FSC‑certified quality.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF WATER

Water is key for all life. But water on Earth is not shared in a fair way. Climate change, more people, waste, and high use all put water at risk. This is why we must use water with care. At Beiersdorf, we use water in many steps. We need it to make our products, and it is part of our formulas. Our consumers also use water with our products. Because of this, we use freshwater carefully and recycle wastewater where we can.
