Beiersdorf grows further in challenging environment

Beiersdorf continued its upward trend in the first six months of 2016. Group sales increased organically by 2.8%. At €3.358 billion, nominal sales were down 1.3% from €3.402 billion due to negative exchange rate effects. Group EBIT excluding special factors rose from €508 million to €513 million. The EBIT margin continued to improve, reaching 15.3% compared with last year’s 14.9%. This was despite poor macroeconomic conditions in many markets. For the full year, Beiersdorf remains cautiously optimistic and confirms its guidance.

Beiersdorf continued on its profitable growth path in 2015. In a difficult market environment, Beiersdorf recorded organic sales growth of 3.0% increasing both sales and earnings. In nominal terms, sales increased by 6.4%, from €6.285 billion to €6.686 billion. The Consumer Business Segment generated sales growth of 3.6%, whereas tesa increased sales by 0.4%. Group EBIT excluding special factors rose to €962 million, up from €861 million in the previous year. The EBIT margin improved to 14.4%, up from last year’s 13.7%.

In nominal terms, sales rose by 6.4% from €6.285 billion to € 6.686 billion. The Consumer Business Segment increased organic sales by 3.6%. tesa’s organic growth totaled 0.4%, in line with the high level of the previous year. Beiersdorf confirmed that its consolidated EBIT margin (excluding special factors) significantly exceeded last year's level as forecast.

The company increased both its sales and earnings, and gained further market share. Organic Group sales climbed 2.7%. In nominal terms, sales rose by 6.8%, from €4.716 billion to €5.035 billion. Group EBIT excluding special factors increased by 11.9%, from €671 million to €750 million. The EBIT margin improved to 14.9%, compared with last year’s 14.2%.

In nominal terms, sales increased by 6.9%, from €1.596 billion to €1.706 billion. Both business segments contributed to this positive performance. Group EBIT excluding special factors improved to €255 million, up from €235 million in the previous year. The corresponding EBIT margin rose to 15.0%.

Beiersdorf’s first-quarter results for 2014 underline the continuation of last year’s strong business performance. The Group delivered organic sales growth of 6.7%. The difference between nominal and organic growth is attributable to the strength of the euro in the past year. CEO Stefan F. Heidenreich’s contract extended for five years

The Supervisory Board of Beiersdorf AG, Hamburg, has passed a resolution to extend CEO Stefan F. Heidenreich’s contract for a further five years. The new contract is effective as of January 1, 2015 and ends on December 31, 2019. “Beiersdorf is extremely pleased that Mr. Heidenreich will continue to drive forward and shape our successful renewal process together with all of our managers and employees. His work to date has earned our greatest respect and has benefited consumers, customers and the company,” said Prof. Dr. Reinhard Pöllath, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Beiersdorf AG.

Beiersdorf continues on its growth path

For the first half of 2013, Beiersdorf has continued to progress well with strong sales growth in both business segments, Consumer and tesa. Group sales rose by 6.6% organically, and in nominal terms by 3.3%, from €3.062 billion to €3.163 billion. The operating result (EBIT) excluding special factors reached €434 million, an increase of 11.2%, representing a significantly improved EBIT margin of 13.7% (previous year: 12.7%). Consolidated after-tax profit rose to €287 million.

Changes to the Executive Board of Beiersdorf AG / New Managers to Drive Forward Growth Market Activities

Ümit Subaşı, the Executive Board member responsible for the Emerging Markets area since March 2011, is leaving the company in amicable agreement on July 31, 2012 to pursue new ventures. As of July 1, 2012, Stefan De Loecker (44) will become the Corporate Senior Vice President with responsibility for the Near East region. Patrick Kaminski (43) has recently taken over as Corporate Senior Vice President responsible for the operating business in the Far East region.
