Product Transparency

Our consumers are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we strive to deliver effective skincare and a positive, confident experience when purchasing our products. Transparency is especially important to us: we offer clear, easy-to-understand information about our products and their environmental impact.

ECO BEAUTY SCORE

Beiersdorf is a founding member of the EcoBeautyScore Association. It helps consumers make more sustainable choices by giving clear and simple guidance. With the EcoBeautyScore’s environmental assessment — which is sciencebased and independently checked — we can now show the environmental score of our products.

HOW CAN I USE THE ECO BEAUTY SCORE?

The EcoBeautyScore evaluates 16 environmental dimensions through a sophisticated, science-backed, data-driven approach. This results in a straightforward score ranging from A (highest) to E (lowest), allowing consumers to easily compare the environmental impact of products across various brands. Product scores can only be compared against other products within the same category (e.g. face care).

HOW DOES THE ECO BEAUTY SCORE WORK?

The methodology has been co-designed by scientists and reviewed externally by a panel of independent experts*. Score usage is regularly audited by a third party.  Find out more about the methodology, click here.

LIFECYCLE STAGES

The score is calculated by assessing the complete environmental impact of a product throughout its lifecycle, including ingredient sourcing, packaging, manufacturing, transportation, consumer usage, and post-use waste management.

PLANETARY IMPACTS

The environmental impacts on climate, water, and land biodiversity (e.g., deforestation) are evaluated at each stage of the product’s lifecycle and then combined. This approach is commonly used by scientists to measure the overall environmental impact of a product.
