Law on Equal Participation

In accordance with the “Law on Equal Participation of Women and Men in Leadership Positions”, Beiersdorf AG is required by law to set targets for the percentage of women on the first two senior management levels below the Executive Board, including periods for achieving these targets. For the Supervisory Board of Beiersdorf AG, a statutory minimum percentage of 30% female and male members applies; for the Executive Board, a statutory minimum requirement of at least one woman and one man applies. In addition to this, as part of its diversity concept for the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board, the Supervisory Board also sets a voluntary target for the proportion of women on these boards in each case.

Regarding the percentage of women on our Supervisory Board the Executive Board and the first two senior management levels, the current targets are as follows:

Beiersdorf AG

Supervisory Board: Current and previous target: Share of women at least 33% 
Executive Board: 

Current target: Share of women at least 30%

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 10%; this target was overachieved with 38%.
As of December 31, 2022, the proportion of women was 38%.

1st management level: 

Current target until December 31, 2026: Share of women at least 35%

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 35%; with 32%, this target was not achieved due to a relatively small number of available positions at this level. Changes and restructuring within the organization had an immediate impact.
As of December 31, 2022, the proportion of women was 31%.

2nd management level:

Current target until December 31, 2026: Share of women at least 50%

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 50%; this target was slightly overachieved with 51%. 
As of December 31, 2022, the proportion of women was 48%.

We will make the status quo of target achievement publicly available here on our website and in the Corporate Governance Statement in fiscal year 2026.

Going beyond the statutory requirements for Beiersdorf AG, in 2018 we set a global target for the share of women internationally in the first three management groups (“MG 1-3”) in our Consumer Business Segment: Latest by June 30, 2022 we were committed to achieving a 35% share of women in MG 1-3. As of June 30, 2022 the share was 37%, hence we overachieved our target. 

In line with our “Beiersdorf Gender Parity Ambition” announced in March 2021, we commit to achieving 50:50 gender parity across all management levels (management levels 1-4) in the Consumer Business by 2025.

 As of December 31, 2022, the proportion of women was 48%.

Beiersdorf Manufacturing Hamburg GmbH

In the Consumer Business Segment, Beiersdorf Manufacturing Hamburg GmbH is required by law alongside Beiersdorf AG to set targets for the share of women on the Supervisory Board and Managing Director level, as well as on the two most senior management levels below the Managing Directors.

The target percentages and compliance periods for achieving the share of women are currently as follows:
 

Supervisory Board: Current target until December 31, 2025: Share of women at least 33%

 

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 33%; this target was achieved with 33%

Managing Directors:

Current target until December 31, 2025: Share of women at least 0% *

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 0%; this target was achieved with 0% 

1st management level: 

Current target until December 31, 2025: Share of women at least 50% 

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 18%; this target was overachieved with 22.22%

2nd management level:

Current target until December 31, 2025: Share of women at least 37.14% 

Previous target until June 30, 2022: Share of women at least 25%; with 20% share of women, this target was not achieved. During the relevant period there were not enough female applicants for the second management level positions, which are mostly in the production environment. 

  *Beiersdorf Manufacturing GmbH employs only one Managing Director; this position is currently held by a man.
