ECO BEAUTY SCORE

We are part of the EcoBeautyScore Association that aims to help consumers to make more sustainable choices, where looking for guidance and orientation. Thanks to the  EcoBeautyScore environmental assessment, that is science-based and independently verified, we are now able to implement the environmental performance score for our products.

The EcoBeautyScore Association consists of more than 70 companies across the industry, who jointly developed this environmental impact assessment and scoring system for cosmetic products.

WE CARE FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE CHOICES

EcoBeautyScore evaluates 16 environmental dimensions through a sophisticated, science-backed, data-driven approach. This results in a straightforward score ranging from A (highest) to E (lowest), allowing consumers to easily compare the environmental impact of products across various brands.

Products that score “A” rank amongst the best in class of the face care category for having a lower environmental impact. Products that score “E” have a higher impact and are therefore key products to focus our efforts to improve their environmental performance. Product scores can only be compared against other products within the same category (e.g. face care).

THE METHOD BEHIND ECO BEAUTY SCORE

The methodology has been co-designed by scientists and reviewed externally by a panel of independent experts*. Score usage is regularly audited by a third party. To find out more about the methodology, click here.

LIFECYCLE STAGES

The score is calculated by assessing the complete environmental impact of a product throughout its lifecycle, including ingredient sourcing, packaging, manufacturing, transportation, consumer usage, and post-use waste management.

PLANETARY IMPACTS

The environmental impacts on climate, water, and land biodiversity (e.g., deforestation) are evaluated at each stage of the product’s lifecycle and then combined. This approach is commonly used by scientists to measure the overall environmental impact of a product.
