Our Special Objective: Women in Leadership Positions

Since the “Law on Equal Participation of Women and Men in Leadership Positions” was passed in Germany, Beiersdorf AG is required by law to set targets for the percentage of women on the Executive Board and on the first two senior management levels. We are also required to set compliance periods for achieving these percentages. For the Beiersdorf AG Supervisory Board the statutory minimum percentage of female Members is 30% (as at December 31, 2019: 42% women and 58% men).

Regarding the percentage of women on our Executive Board and the first two senior management levels, the current targets and compliance periods are as follows:

Beiersdorf AG

Executive Board:   Share of women at least 10% by June 30, 2022 (as at December 31, 2019: 13%)
1st management level:   Share of women at least 35% by June 30, 2022 (as at December 31, 2019: 31%)
2nd management level:  Share of women at least 50% by June 30, 2022 (as at December 31, 2019: 48%)

We will announce the achievement of these targets at the latest in fiscal year 2022 on this website and in the Corporate Governance Statement.

Going beyond the statutory requirements for Beiersdorf AG, in 2018 our company set a global target for the share of women internationally in the first three management groups (“MG 1 – 3”) in our Consumer Business Segment: Latest by June 30, 2022 we are committed to achieving a 35% share of women in MG 1 – 3. As at the end of the 2019 fiscal year the share was 30.2%, matching the previous year’s figure.

Beiersdorf Manufacturing Hamburg GmbH

In the Consumer Business Segment, Beiersdorf Manufacturing Hamburg GmbH is required by law alongside Beiersdorf AG to set targets for the share of women on the Supervisory Board and Managing Director level, as well as on the two most senior management levels below the Managing Directors.

The target percentages and compliance periods for achieving the share of women are currently as follows:
 

Supervisory Board:  At least a 33% share of women by June 30, 2022
Managing Directors:  At least a 0% share of women by June 30, 2022*
1st management level:  At least an 18% share of women by June 30, 2022
2nd management level:  At least a 25% share of women by June 30, 2022                                                 

  *Beiersdorf Manufacturing GmbH employs only one Managing Director; this post is currently held by a man.
