Children are our future. That is why helping colleagues balance their careers and family life has been part of our understanding of Care for many decades. For more than 75 years, we have supported colleagues in combining work and family. At our Hamburg location, this also includes our company daycare center, “Troplo Kids”, because reliable childcare can make everyday life that little bit easier.

At the “Troplo Kids” daycare center, we offer colleagues at our Hamburg location reliable childcare close to the workplace. Since 2013, we have welcomed around 100 children aged nine weeks to six years. Our team of 28 qualified educators and one housekeeping professional supports every child with care, trust, and individual attention, creating an environment where children can develop at their own pace and discover the world around them.

Balancing work and family life is not always easy. At our “Troplo Kids” daycare center, we support colleagues by making it easier to combine both. Flexible childcare hours, a caring environment, and a strong educational approach give parents the confidence that their children are in good hands. This creates greater flexibility throughout the workday while giving children a place to play, learn, build friendships, and discover something new every day.

Children learn best when they feel safe and secure. That is why trusting relationships and individual support are at the heart of our educational approach.

Our program includes early music education, project-based learning, psychomotor activities, physical education, and English lessons from the age of four. We also offer a dedicated preschool group and organize regular excursions in the local area. To help children settle in, we follow the “Berlin Model”, which supports both children and parents during the transition into daycare. We also encourage children to take an active role in shaping their daily routines by involving them in age-appropriate decisions.

Oscar Troplowitz’s values continue to shape our understanding of Care today.

The name “Troplo Kids” pays tribute to Dr. Oscar Troplowitz, who led Beiersdorf from 1890 to 1918. His commitment to society and his belief in supporting employees and their families continue to shape our company culture today.

As early as 1898, he established a nursing room for mothers, which later evolved into one of Germany’s first company daycare centers. With “Troplo Kids”, we continue this tradition in a modern way, supporting families both in their professional and personal lives.

The Beiersdorf “Troplo Kids” daycare center offers around 1,415 square meters of thoughtfully designed space where children can learn, play, and explore. Bright group rooms, a children’s kitchen, an art studio, a workshop, and a spacious outdoor area create an inspiring environment for everyday daycare life.

The building was designed with sustainability in mind and constructed in accordance with the standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). It features a photovoltaic system on its green roof and is fully accessible throughout both the indoor and outdoor areas.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT “Troplo Kids”

  • The Beiersdorf “Troplo Kids” daycare center offers a total of 100 childcare places:

    • 48 nursery places for children aged nine weeks to three years
    • 12 places in a mixed-age group for children aged two and a half to six years
    • 40 preschool places for children aged three to six years

  • No. Around 80% of childcare places are reserved for children of Beiersdorf employees, while the remaining 20% are available to families from the local community.

  • The Beiersdorf “Troplo Kids” daycare center is located on the Beiersdorf campus at Stresemannallee 103 in Hamburg, close to our headquarters and the local production sites.

  • The daycare center is open year-round from Monday to Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The center is closed only between Christmas and New Year.

  • The Beiersdorf “Troplo Kids” daycare center offers the following childcare hours:

    • Early care: 6:45 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
    • Regular group hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
    • Late care: 4:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Each preschool group is supported by two qualified early childhood educators. Nursery groups are staffed by three educators to provide young children with individual care and support.

  • The Beiersdorf “Troplo Kids” daycare center offers a variety of activities that support each child’s individual development. These include psychomotor activities, puppet making, preschool preparation, and excursions in the local area.

  • The settling-in period usually takes around three to four weeks. The exact duration depends on each child’s individual needs.

  • The daycare center follows the “Berlin Model”, a well-established settling-in approach that supports children and their parents as they transition into everyday daycare life.
