Supplier Code of Conduct (CoC) Implementation Process

Our Supplier Code of Conduct (CoC) commits our suppliers to maintaining the same standards that we apply in our own operations. The implementation process comprises CoC Acknowledgement, Further Monitoring, and Reinforcement. Around 90% of our procurement volume is contractually secured by the Supplier CoC.

Following their signature of the Supplier CoC we risk-profile our supply-chain partners according to their regional locations and business significance for Beiersdorf: The higher the risk, the more comprehensive the assessment. 100% of our supply chain is covered by this CoC Monitoring and Reinforcement step. Furthermore we require significant-risk suppliers to complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) on the Sedex platform: This determines the need for a Responsible Sourcing Audit, which is carried out by a certified independent 3rd-party auditor to identify any issues objectively. We then engage with our suppliers to resolve these audit issues together.

For supplier audits we apply the SMETA 4-Pillar Audit Protocol, which is also mutually recognized by AIM-PROGRESS members and therefore Beiersdorf. AIM-PROGRESS is a forum and collaborative framework of leading Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturers and common suppliers whose shared goal is to develop suppliers’ compliance capability and drive continuous improvement in supply-chain sustainability.
