Your Tasks

Role Purpose


The Head of S&CM leads the channel and shopper strategy for Southern Africa, aiming to maximize Net Sales, Market Share, Category Growth, and POS presence and visibility. Collaborates closely with Marketing, Customer, and Field Teams to implement strategies. Owns shopper understanding and defines go-to-market plans by Category and Retail Environment (RE). Leads execution of the 4Ps to ensure a clear Picture of Success (PICOS) to win at the shelf and with impulse shoppers by Category and RE.

Main Accountabilities

1) Planning

a) Lead S&CM workstreams for Category/RE during ABP, Fast Start, and Business Reviews for SA. Ensure robust, accurate processes with strategic focus and alignment. Identify and communicate commercial pressure points.

b) Lead S&OP forecasting for Category/RE. Ensure accuracy and highlight key supply issues in SA.

c) Drive base business and innovation planning. Build assortment strategy based on shopper occasions and RE insights. Ensure full delivery of innovation packages.

2) Commercial Operations

a) POSM: Ensure design needs are met across SA.

b) PICOS: Localize regional PICOS for SA. Work with EM S&CM to develop and activate PICOS per annual plan.

c) Pricing: With RGM Manager, define and deploy pricing guidelines by RE.

d) Promo: With RGM Manager, create a comprehensive Promotion Menu. Guide the team to improve promo effectiveness and efficiency.

3) Customer Engagement

a) Presentations: Ensure key Customer Category Presentations (Innovation, JBP, T2T) are complete for all major SA customers. Deliver 4P selling stories by RE.

b) Engagement: Map all JBP/T2T customers, ensuring quality interactions using the regional playbook. Define key customer programs (CSR, AVC, Active Accounts) for SA.

c) Performance Management: Understand Category performance by Channel and Customer. Address key issues and opportunities.

4) Store Execution

a) Trax: Collaborate with Win the Store Manager to ensure KPIs are relevant for SA.

b) Top Stores: Understand and manage Top Store programs to drive outperformance.

5) Leadership & People Management

a) Build a high-performance S&CM team through talent identification, development, and recruitment to ensure strong capability in all key roles.

b) Coach and train S&CM teams formally and informally across SA.

c) Lead effective meetings, promoting a positive learning environment focused on personal and professional growth.

d) Embody and promote company values through daily behavior.

e) Foster an active S&CM Community to enable fast learning, best practice sharing, and implementation.

Your Profile

a) At least 10 years of experience in Marketing, Sales or Shopper Marketing/ Trade Marketing areas

b) In depth knowledge of modern trade and multi- channel experience preferred

c) Proven experiences of matching brand strategies and channel strategies, and translating it into execution

d) Customer-centric thinking

e) Strong Financial Analysis skills required

f) Able to identify customers ‘needs and build business strategies based on them.

g) Strong leadership skills (experienced in leading teams and/or cross-functional teams)

h) Pragmatic, Dynamic, results-oriented individual with a "hands on" style

i) Able to adapt, navigate and have a protagonist role in a fast-paced, high-growth, changing environment

j) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player

k) Personable, Energetic, Responsive, Confident and Honest

l) Fluent English
