With great sadness, Beiersdorf has been following the news and images of the destruction following the severe earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria that has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives. As a sign of solidarity and to provide rapid support to those affected, Beiersdorf has therefore initiated a €500,000 aid donation. The amount will immediately go to the long-standing partner, the German Red Cross (DRK). The DRK has been working together with its sister societies, the Turkish Red Crescent (TRH) as well as the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), for many years and is in close communication on the situation on the ground to identify humanitarian needs and coordinate how the DRK can best support to provide urgently needed assistance.
“This natural disaster in Türkiye and Syria is of tragic dimensions. Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with the impacted families, their relatives, partners and communities. In these trying times, it is more important than ever to come together and support with courage and care – in a smart and fast way,” emphasizes Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf AG. “With this immediate donation we continue to work with our humanitarian partners to provide urgent humanitarian aid and immediate emergency relief required for the affected regions.”
Christian Reuter, Secretary General of the German Red Cross, says: “We are following the events with great dismay and our thoughts are with those affected. The people in the disaster regions in Türkiye and Syria now urgently need humanitarian aid. The German Red Cross is currently coordinating aid measures under high pressure together with our partners in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in order to support the emergency aid measures already underway by our partners on the ground in the most targeted way possible.”
