Your Tasks
Key Responsibilities within the MU (General):
- Oversee and coordinate the full spectrum of Legal & Compliance activities ensuring alignment with corporate governance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert legal advice and compliance guidance to all relevant stakeholders to mitigate risks and support business objectives effectively.
- Direct management and strategic allocation of the Legal & Compliance budget to optimize resource utilization across functions.
- Contribute actively to shaping and executing policies, principles, and strategies formulated at Global and Regional levels to maintain consistent standards.
- Engage as an integral member of the MU Management Team, influencing decision-making processes through legal insight and risk assessment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the MU Legal & Compliance Team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with external legal counsels, government entities, and key commercial chambers to support the company's legal and strategic interests.
Specific Duties as Local Compliance Officer (LCO):
- Serve as the designated Local Compliance Officer within the MU, embodying and promoting compliance as a core organizational value.
- Lead educational initiatives to ensure the General Manager and leadership teams understand and uphold their legal and compliance responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain the local Compliance Management System (CMS), setting annual targets and monitoring progress to ensure compliance objectives are met.
- Drive the comprehensive local Compliance Risk Assessment, engaging leadership teams to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Implement Global Guidelines diligently and report regularly on CMS effectiveness and compliance status.
- Roll out corporate training modules and sustain proactive communication to embed compliance awareness and promote ethical conduct.
- Encourage open reporting of compliance concerns, managing incidents with thorough investigations and proportionate disciplinary actions.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive legal and compliance reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Your Profile
- Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher in Law; accreditation as a licensed lawyer strongly preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of comprehensive legal counsel experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to serving as internal counsel for multinational corporations; knowledge of FMCG marketing legalities is highly valued.
- Proven expertise across diverse business law and compliance areas, with flexibility to navigate multifaceted legal landscapes.
- Exceptional ability to communicate sophisticated legal concepts clearly and persuasively both verbally and in writing, tailored to various audiences.
- Competence in marrying legal insight with practical business judgment to offer balanced guidance that protects legal interests while enabling business growth.
- Independent and results-driven, capable of managing complex and varied workloads without extensive oversight, demonstrating superior organizational skills.
- Demonstrates initiative and strategic thinking when managing assignments, capable of prioritizing effectively to meet challenging deadlines.
