Our Application Development team is a trusted partner to all business functions, implementing custom (web) applications that make a difference to how people across Beiersdorf take decisions, access relevant information and pursue their daily work. We are looking for a passionate “Lead Software Developer” to join the team.
Our team consists of highly motivated and experienced application developers from various professional backgrounds spanning open source, Microsoft and SAP technologies. We are part of Beiersdorf’s Data, AI and Automation organization.

Your Tasks
- Lead and enable cross‑capability development teams by fostering close collaboration between experts in process automation, front‑end and back‑end development, machine learning, AI, and data engineering. Act as a technical integrator and facilitator across disciplines.
- Assume end‑to‑end technical ownership of mission‑critical applications, including system architecture, application logic, data models, CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and service monitoring. Ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability across the entire solution lifecycle.
- Champion the “You build it, you run it” mindset by promoting accountability for production readiness, operational stability, and continuous improvement. Guide teams in designing for operability, observability, and fault tolerance.
- Set and enforce high engineering standards through the definition and execution of best practices such as automated testing strategies, structured code reviews, pair programming, and comprehensive documentation. Mentor developers to continuously improve code quality, technical skills, and adherence to architectural guidelines.
- Act as a technical role model and coach, providing guidance on design decisions, technology choices, and development practices while cultivating a culture of craftsmanship, ownership, and pride in delivered solutions.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s/ Master's degree in Computer Science or in a related field
- Several years of hands-on experience in software development
- Strong Python skills. Practical experience in at least one of Flask, Django or FastAPI
- Strong general software engineering skills including DevOps and CI/CD
- Knowledge of design of microservices and experience in containerization with Docker
- Experience with relational databases. Good SQL skills
- Written and spoken English. German is a plus
- Ability to work in a self-organizing environment and eagerness to continuously learn
