Senior Brand Manager- Derma (Durban Based)

Your Tasks

1) Market Understanding and Development

  • Identify market challenges, opportunities and right focus in terms of Consumer Marketing Objectives
  • Input into the brand portfolio development and partner with the Global marketing Team
  • Develop a strong local pipeline to deliver on Business Objectives set by the Marketing Manager
  • Contribution toward development of annual Consumer Marketing Plan and gain approval for Strategy with the Marketing Manager

2) Communication development

  • Lead the development of exceptional communication assets for key innovations in the Consumer Marketing Space
  • Co-create 360 launch activation campaigns and ensure smooth implementation
  • Lead the Derma Team Managers to deliver an integrated communication approach (media plan) to develop and deliver consistent brand messaging across all channels.
  • Take the lead on a various of strategic digital initiatives in line with our digital transformation journey for the marketing function.

3) Brand Management

  • Input into Consumer Annual marketing plan
  • Responsible for deployment of plan OTIF (On Time, In Full), within budget, developing the approved Local Pipeline & manage new product development & successful deployment.
  • Input into pricing and promotions - give recommendations to Customer team
  • Manage and lead the artwork development process and deliver on time.
  • Responsible for New Product Development  forecast development, & input into overall brand forecast review and completion,
  • demand forecast meeting to review annual volumes which feed into S&OP,
  • Evaluate & propose Marketing mix and evaluate media channel
  • Responsible for communication development on approved brief, including management of agencies & assist in getting approvals from key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing and delivering brand presentations to local business, some external and global partners and development of brand commercial updates monthly, management of Creative partners and development of annual Media Briefs, strategic marketing presentations when needed.

4) Market Understanding

  • Demonstrate Consumer understanding and develop relevant insights, concepts & Product innovations/renovations relevant for the South African market
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of developments in market and in trade and R&D/NPD/Tech developments in their categories.
  • Responsible for accurately managing allocated budgets throughout the year, accurate recons, and media PO tracking and maximisation of return on investment by tracking Above the Line campaigns with scan track and PLEs feedback into the business.
  • Responsible for pulling B1 reports, checking financials to M1 and highlighting any issues to MM.

5) Project Management

  • Assist team members in terms of key brand elements (Brand essence and authorship ) and business processes
  • Responsible for project managing NPD/ Launch/Relaunch process within the business & managing cross functional teams
  • Input into Annual Business Plan, presenting to Sales Team, and assisting with finalization of ABP presentation for MD.
  • Influences adjacent S&CM and Sales Team to ensure plans are effectively executed in trade on time.
  • Form good relationships with Global / Regional Teams to facilitate teamwork and smooth project roll outs, update calls/visits/stake-holder mgmt.

Your Profile

1) Knowledge

  • Tertiary qualification (BCOM/BA/IMM).
  • Marketing skills including ATL BTL development, research briefing & analysis, market analysis, consumer insight development, measurement and tracking of initiatives, claims, product & packaging development, concept development
  • Broad set of commercial skills with a working understanding of all business functions and key business processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage diverse relationships both locally an internationally.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member

2) Skills

  • Ability to identify patterns in data and develop action plans in response.
  • Ability to lead a project team.
  • Ability to help develop Brand Managers.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, good influencing skills.  Strong bias for action.  Able to lead internally and externally.  Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Digital marketing management including campaign development & optimization, Content Marketing, Social Media Marketing & Performance Marketing. Experience in Precision Marketing an added advantage.
  • Good analytical and financial skills for share analyses and business case development.
  • Able to critique creative and an eye for perfection.
  • Strong Ownership mentality
  • Strong project management skills

3) Experience

  • Min. 5 years’ brand management experience in FMCG industry.
